Why is it not ok to be emotional??????
So I am riding in my car scanning music stations. ( Morning radio talk shows are just as damaging and crappy as television news and talk shows by the way!) The question one of the hosts had posed to the public was "would you rather have a woman or a man as a boss? A female came on air and said she would prefer to have a man as a boss because women were too---and she really said this---"emotional, sensitive, and catty"! I was in shock. She went on to say that because of this, "women couldn't get the job done like a man. Men get down to business and get it done and women cant because of our emotions". Oh I felt hurt and confused. How could a women be non supportive of another women being in a professional, leadership role. Did she really feel this way or is this what she has heard for long that she believes it or just goes along with the masses.
Ladies--we can get the job done!!!! We have got to know that we are wonderful leaders, that it has been proven that when women enter into those powerful positions, we rock!!!!

Racist or Not?
The Rules of Racism
Why do we consider ourselves as people who are not racist? When deep down we stereotype whether consciously or not. This video makes light of real situations minorities fight against each other but when a common threat approaches they join forces to defeat the enemy.

YTM Hits the Street
The Youth Transforming Media ladies hit the street last week, taking their knowledge, resources, and message to teens of the Teens Taking Action group. They led great discussion, showed informative videos, and encouraged their peers to get involved. I am so happy and excited for the work to continue with this group.

Soooo difficult to have discussions about stuff that really matters............
Sitting in my living room, I feel so angry about the conversation I am having with people so close to me about the rights and wrongs of media. And its not a media issue, its a global issue. Its what we choose to watch, create, and share with one another. How are we living? What are we spending our time doing? Are we thinking anymore?
One of the most challenging things to do is have a discussion with someone who thinks different than you.

http://thelocdiaries.com/2010/02/22/repost-my-first-conk/#more-263
It relates to our project. But it basically talks about the insecurity of men and women, and that during the time period of the civil rights they saw white people has perfect.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see the real you, or what you have been conditioned to believe is you? The two are so, so different. One is an infinite consciousness capable of being and creating whatever it chooses, the other is an illusion imprisoned by its own perceived and programmed limitations.

What we the womens can do :)
Isha Jain, Age 22
Winner Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology Harvard Chemical
Isha performed her first experiment in the fourth grade, testing candy to figure out why some is chewy and some is hard. Since then, her accomplishments have only gotten sweeter: At 16 she won $100,000 for her research on bone growth in zebra fish, she’s coauthored six published scientific papers, and she helped direct Harvard’s National Symposium for the Advancement of Women in Science. “If only a small percentage of women are involved in science, we’re slowing the rate at which we’ll make new discoveries,” she says.

“You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don't know it, all of that doesn't even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It's not like you have forever, so don't waste any of your seconds, don't throw even one of your moments away.”
― C. JoyBell C.

“Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going on in their lives, they wouldn't have the time to sit around and talk about you. What's important to me is not others' opinions of me, but what's important to me is my opinion of myself.”
― C. JoyBell C
“What's the whole point of being pretty on the outside when you’re so ugly on the inside?”
― Jess C. Scott, I'm Pretty
Here's another good quote.
p.s., don't just look at the titles please.
“Get Off The Scale!
You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.
Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.
It’s true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!”

The Ideal Image of "A Good Woman"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/24/wall-street-journal-women-how-to-be-a-good-woman_n_4832262.html
This is the stupidest thing I have ever read. This is totally the opposite!!!
The real thing of how to be a good women is below:
( 9 ways to be a good woman)
1) Be who you truly are. (silly, smart, weird, etc.)
2) Make people understand that you must be respected.
3) Follow your dreams, don't let anything get in your way.
4) Be successful, show that you can be a leader. Set the example.
5) Tell that the world where true beauty comes from. That True beauty lies within.
6) Be educated.
7) Pay attention to reality. Be opened minded.
8) Live life to the fullest.
9) Spread the word.

What is beauty? Is it a thin, insecure, anorexic women scared to remove her mask, and finally look at the world from her own perspective. Or is it a women that loves her body, be it curves, scraggly hair, freckles, dimples and is ready to show the world she can rely on her self. Who are you? I know who I am, but many women, and men, are afraid to take off the mask. It's time to break free from the standards that have been put on us and break the system.

How do you spend your time?
http://www.bbc.com/news/health-26952394
These days it is not uncommon to look around and see people taking endless pictures of themselves. This is not a horrible thing to do but are their consequences? What do taking selfies do to ourselves or the interactions we have with others?

Our Words Matter
our words, our posts, our uploads, downloads, every interaction, each person matters. The videos we watch, how we spend our time, the way we judge others, the way we think of ourselves, the stories we listen to, the stories we tell...........alll of this matters!
Another School Shooting?? Why?!
No one knows yet why this school shooting has happened in Troutdale, Oregon. It is tragic and our thoughts are with all of the young people and that community. The news reports were continually referring to the use of social media as the way the parents and students were being connected and informed. Media can help us in so many ways but we must understand the devastating ways it can hurt as too. Was the person committing this act being bullied through Facebook or outcasted in some way? What are the distractions in society today that cause us to overlook really important issues in ourselves and in our world?
Light and Love to all the people who have been involved in the way too many school shootings that have occurred over the last several years.

Sooooo much information to share and absorb
Hi friends. Today we are lucky to have so much information right at our fingertips. Current news and happenings from all over the world are available if we search and I think it is our responsibility to seek and share information. Public awareness regarding the boom of media and of female representation in the media is on the rise. Lets help it continue to increase. Post stories, send links to facts, whatever it takes for us to become a more engaged and concerned community. I believe if we are authentic in how we use and create media, we will be authentic in our daily interactions thus creating a more trusting society.
